Petting Zoo

We ventured to the petting zoo this week with my good friend Carly and her son Caleb. It was sooooo cute! They have a whole pen of bunnies and guinea pigs, which Dillan loved! He got to feed them carrots and his favorite was getting to hold them:) Mommy was a little freaked to pick them up, but I finally got one. Dillan was in heaven until we entered the goat pen, and then he freaked! After I picked him up and he calmed down I told him to just tell the goats "No thank you" if they got too close. Let's just say I was hearing a lot of "no thank you goat!" Too cute. We finished up with a train ride and then headed to see the BIG train at the San Juan Capistrano train station. Dillan loved seeing the "choo choo" and said "momma, it's loud" (sounds more like youd when he says it:) Love this little guy. Oh yeah, Connor was there too, but he pretty much just chilled in the stroller like a champ!

Connor is in his big boy crib at night! As of Monday we decided it was time for him to make the move down the hall, out of his bassinet and into his big boy crib. He was only waking up once in the night since he was two weeks old! Well, the last couple of weeks he was waking up and eating for like 5 minutes before falling asleep again, so I figured he was ready to "cry it out." He cried Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night for about 10-15 minutes before falling asleep again. As of Thursday night and last night, he went all the way without crying! YEAH FOR SOLID SLEEP FOR MOMMY! Connor has one last feeding around 9 or 10 and sleeps till 7! What a stud! Check him out in his big boy crib!

Celebrating the brilliant Barefoot Contessa!

My good friend Les is OBSESSED with Barefoot Contessa! She stood in line for hours to get her latest cookbook signed! She has been cooking lots of yummy meals for her family since she discovered the wonder of Ina. She decided it was time to have a party to celebrate the yumminess that is Barefoot. So, we all signed up for a part of the meal, gave Les our ingredients, and she did ALL the grocery shopping. We all got together at my house to cook, cook, cook! The dads brought the babies over right before bedtime and while they all slept we FEASTED! It was such a fun day cooking together and gabbing in the kitchen. I think our men were mighty satisfied! Here was the breakdown of the meal:

Jordyn (appetizers)- shrimp with homemade cocktail sauce

-blue cheese/yogurt dip with veggies and crackers

Kim (main dish)- dijon/balsamic roast of beef

Steph (sides)- asparagus risotto

-zucchini au gratin

Karly (side)- tripled parmesan mashed potatoes

Les (dessert)- brownie tart and lemon bars

We had so much fun and the guys enjoyed it so much, that we are going to choose Giada next go around! Yummy Italian food here we come! I am pretty sure that good friends and good food is the perfect combination:)

Deal of the Century!

My mother in law had bought a box of value pack diapers for Connor that were size 1 and he grew out of them before he got to wear them! So I went yesterday to Babies R Us to exchange them for the bigger size. Pampers makes a size 1-2 which is perfect, because usually the 2 is too big right at the start. So I went to the back to look for them and there weren't any on the shelf. I asked the man and he said they were all out. As I was walking back to the counter defeated, I saw a stack of diapers in the aisle and spotted a box of 1-2....SCORE! I took them up and the lady scanned them and said "WHAT??" I asked her what was going on and she said the diapers were ringing at $3!!!!!!!!!! A box of 192 diapers was $3! She informed me that they are discontinuing that size, which is why they were so discounted. I ran back and grabbed the last box they had. So, I returned a box of diapers, which cost $40, and I got 400 diapers for $6! Plus, they had a promotional going on that when you buy 2 value boxes of diapers, you got a $5 gift card. So, after all was said and done I received a gift card for $30 with the return and promotion and walked out of there with 400 diapers. DEAL OF THE CENTURY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Supper Club....Murder Mystery at Mardi Gras

Supper club time again. We were supposed to host, but Heather kindly volunteered, since we just had Connor and needed a little time to regroup:) She did a wonderful job hosting a fun Mardi gras party with a murder mystery game. We each had a character and we had to try to figure out who killed Mr. Pierre. I played the character of Connika Gothica, an eccentric novelist who was Mr Pierre's next door neighbor. I didn't even look like myself with my wig and fake eyelashes:) Dusty played Cayenne Pepper, the family chef. We had so much fun throughout the evening trying to discover who the murderer was. In the end, Todd, the family lawyer was the murderer and I was the only one who guessed right, winning the coveted bottle of champagne. We had yummy shrimp jambalaya and finished up with a "King's Cake" which is a popular Louisiana tradition. The mint juleps were also in full affect:) Next party is definitely at our house, and my mind's already working on what the theme should be!

Well let me start off by saying that I am definitely not the green thumb in our family! Dusty has always enjoyed being out in the backyard, weeding, mowing, planting flowers, etc. I like the look of it, but I can never seem to keep things from dying:) However, I have been cooking a lot lately and really wanted to have my own herbs that I could use when I am cookin up dinner. We decided to take on the challenge of building our own box, getting the correct soil and liner, and planting our own seeds. We headed to home depot, and about 4 hours later (with the help of Dillan hammering) we had our box built, filled, and planted! I can't wait to see when everything starts to sprout up! We planted basil, cilantro, rosemary, parsley, and carrots! We also are growing tomatoes next to the box. So fun! Stay tuned to see if we have a successful harvest:)

John 15:5

2 months old!

Connor is two months old! This has been such a fun month as Connor has grown a ton and started to smile a ton! His first smile was on March 5th at Disneyland! My favorite time is right after he eats. He is really alert and just smiles for days! We went to his Dr appt today and he weighs 11 pounds and 12 ounces (50th %) and is 23 3/4 inches long (70%). He is pretty much out of his newborn clothes and moved to size 1-2 diapers. He is getting on more of a schedule during the day and loves to take his naps on his tummy! Still loves his paci and tries to find his thumb to suck on which is so cute! Connor is such a happy contented baby and we are enjoying every second of him! I am looking forward to him dropping his 4 am feeding this month...let's keep our fingers crossed!
