Ringing in 2013 80's style and thoughts on another year older and looking ahead.....

New Years is always double the fun because I get to ring in the New Year as well as celebrate my birthday! This year we went all out 80's and had such a blast. We started the night putting the kiddos down at the Bettino's and then heading to Rip Tide Sushi for some yummy food and some crazy fun. After dinner, we headed to the Aliso Viejo County Club and danced to 80's music all night long. This was seriously was of the most fun New Year's I have had in a long time. Love being with my friends and just being goofballs all night! The next day was even better. Dusty let me sleep in on my birthday and even brought me breakfast in bed! We went for a family bike ride in Dana Point and then got to relax at home the rest of the day. Dust and I even got go have a date night where we went to Nick's in San Clemente and then saw a movie. It was a birthday fit for a queen:)
As I think about what I want for 2013, it's simple. I want to know Christ better. I want Him to be the cornerstone of my everyday life. I want to fall more in love with my husband. I want to strive to be the best mom I can be. I want to create adventures for my boys. I want to give them new and exciting experiences. I want to continue to learn about them and who they are at the center of their being. I want to teach them to know and fall in love with Jesus. And I want to make them big brothers:) Looking forward to what this year will bring and the memories we are sure to make.

It's my birthday and I'll dress 80's
if I want to:)

Christmas Cheer

This Christmas was so much fun! We created amazing memories, had lots of cheer, and celebrated BIG! The season included lots of Christmas light viewing, a visit to Santa, our annual Christmas party, visiting lots of family, and much more. This was the first year that we actually spent the night at our house on Christmas eve and woke up at home Christmas morning. Man, was it amazing! Starting all of our own traditions was so much fun with the boys. We celebrated with the Olson's on Christmas Eve and we celebrated with the Davis' the weekend after Christmas. It is always so much fun to be together with family and especially to see the joy of Christmas through the kids eyes. I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas season with their friends and family!

I absolutely LOVE this picture. Dilly
was so brave this year and I was so proud!

25 days of Advent

This year, Christmas was even sweeter because Dillan understands more and more what the season is all about. As I think about being an intentional parent, I want to teach Dillan not only about Santa and all the joy that comes with that, but also what the season really means....the birth of Christ. I decided to do an advent calendar that would incorporate both of those lessons and just add lots of fun to the season. The word advent is actually the expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the birth of Christ.....well, we waited and prepared by doing LOTS of fun activities, crafts, and learning. This is a tradition I hope to do every year as it was a HUGE hit with the boys and I had so much fun doing it as well. I found the bags in the dollar bin at Target (3 for $1) and I used a stencil with a sharpie to write the numbers. Each day had a different activity along with a hershey kiss for each boy. Here is a list of what we enjoyed doing!

Since we don't have a fireplace, this served
as my mantle:)
